Personality.
Chet's the type of horse that Larsa absolutely had to get his hands on, and didn't flinch when acquiring her from the sale. With incredibly correct conformation, intelligent eyes, and a pedigree both elusive and exciting, she had been an obvious choice. As far as horses go, Chet's not the most stoic nor the most malleable. She can be stubborn and contradictory, and her eyes look displeased more than excited most of the time. She's not exactly sour, but she doesn't enjoy getting fussed with much, even if she'll stand for it. However, even if she might not be in love with humans, she definitely prefers their company over most of her own kind. While she seems happy enough to go out at first, she'll separate herself from the rest of the animals to graze and generally ends up pacing at the fence to come in by the end of the day. Part of this, of course, comes down to her insane appetite - she cleans up her initial hay and grain twice as fast as the other horses once she gets inside, then starts nickering for more whenever anyone walks by. Despite her actual personality, this on its own is enough to endear her to her handlers. On the ground she's a pretty steady animal, but when she's mounted she's suddenly spooky of half the objects she sees. A firm hand can keep her on the right track, and constant vigilance is generally advised to her rider. For all of her unhappiness at times, though, she's a wildcat on the track. She's definitely one of those horses that won't hesitate to throw a bite or kick at a workmate if they're at lower speeds and do anything so much as pin their ears at her. She's got a lot of heart, and running seems to be her vent for irritable frustrations - kind of like a bunch of competitors always catching her in a bad mood, and she wants nothing more than to put them into the ground.

Chet breaks very well most of the time, and will volley with the leaders to always stay within five strides or so of the leaders. If there's too much crowding on the front end between horses that don't want to lead, she'll push forward and set the pace just to have room to stretch her legs. She will never be the one to set a fast pace, and relishes the challenge in the final furlong when everyone taps into those last reserves. She hates being caught on the rail and being crowded in general, so she tends to take a wide sweep if she's coming from behind the leaders. She's feisty and furious, and drives hard to finish on top.
